I heard about this film a while ago and wondered when I'd be able to see it. Luckily, the International Black Film Festival (IBFF) in Nashville will present Mooz-Lum for a limited weekend screening May 28-29, 2011. This will act as the start to the IBFF's Summer Film series.
Mooz-Lum stars Evan Ross (ATL), Nia Long (Love Jones), and Danny Glover (The Color Purple). The film follows a young boy who's been raised as strict Muslim and is now finding his place in college and a world that doesn't look to fondly at Americans who profess the Muslim faith. This award winning movie is guaranteed to create great conversations on race, religion, and family structure in modern America. After the screen on May 28, the director, Qasim Basir, and the producer, Dana Offenbach, will be available for a panel discussion.
